Some pool tables can earn a reasonable amount of money and a few bar owners start to think it might be better to have all the earnings and not just 50%, read on...

Advantages

1) All table earnings for the bar owner.

Disadvantages

1) A pool table needs to be purchased and that cost for a new quality pool table can be anything between 1,800 and 2,800 Euros including transport, fitting, a table iron and a table light. A machinists level *not a builders level * is also recommended.

2) It may seem inviting to own your own table and in fact it may be worth it... for a while, especially when the table is new but pool tables do not look after themselves! they need regualr maintaniance to run problem free. The cloth needs cleaned and ironed, certain areas inside need to be cleaned, oiled and some small parts replaced when seen to start to show ware. Not doing these small maintainance tasks is then when the table will start to give problems, if the table has problems it will put customers off using it and therefore cost you money.

3) A Pool table needs regular leveling, if it is not level it will put customers off using it... I can't think of one bar owned pool table that I know of that is kept level!

4) The cloth will need cleaned and ironed regularly, then replaced when worn. A new recover generally costs anything from 240 Euros upwards for a decent cloth and to be covered properly. If the cloth is not in good condition it will put customers off playing on the table!

5) The table cloth will need to be marked out, ironed and re-spotted regularly...

6) Cues need to be repaired and replaced, as do the balls if any go missing... as do cue tips, cloth spots, springs and any other spare parts in the table when they break.

7) Many bar owners that have bought a pool table in the past generally tend to replace it with one on profit share when they find the upkeep is more involved than initially thought, realising it was maybe not such a good idea to buy their own!

Other things to take into consideration...

There are some bar owners that have bought their table in the past and do not maintained it properly and still think they have a good deal! sadly not realising of course that the use it got in the past it no longer gets because the table is in poor condition, this not only affects the take from the table but also the bar as many of the players that used to spend money on their pool table now use a different bar... a bar that has it's pool table looked after, don't let yourself fall into this trap.
At the end of the day if you have a pool table on profit share and it is looked after properly by the profit share company then you have a good deal.

Basically, owning your pool table might look good on the surface but in reality having a table on profit share * where the table is looked after properly * is the bar owners best option, this way they can look after their bar and let the table be taken care of by a company that are set up to do that professionally, that way they not only make on the pool table but they make more at the bar as people prefer to play on a well looked after table that is in top condition.

Having a pool table on profit share is not simply a case of the table operator calling and taking their half of the money, sadly many operators think it is! The cloth should be kept in good condition, the table should be cleaned and checked... as should the cues and light so if you are not happy with how the table in your bar is cared for, then maybe the solution is to change the company that supplies and services your pool table for a company that takes some interest in what they are doing!

One big problem with pool tables that are owned by the premises is they get run down... quickly. Before someone buys a table for their business they think it is simple, buy the table and put it up then it runs with little care but business owners do not understand the importance of regular cleaning (Inside and out), replacement and lubrication of moving parts before they break, cloth upkeep, cue maintenance etc. before long the take drops (a lot) because of poor upkeep and access to the spares and accessories needed. Now if you own your own table you can avoid these problems, with a regular pool table service plan from us.

We can take care of the maintenance table owners do not know or think they need to do 'or that they just don't do' to keep the table in tip-top running condition, from oiling parts, replacing worn or weak parts, regular leveling, removing ball trail grime from interior ball runs, recovering bed and cushions, keeping the exterior clean... all this can be included in the service charge ...at last! you can just forget about the pool table care on your privately owned table!

The recovering of a snooker table is very different than that of a pool table, even recovering an English pool table is very different than that of an American table, we are one of the very few * trained * billiard table fitters on the coast and have fitted snooker tables that have been played on by players such as: Jimmy White, Alex Higgens, Tony Knowles, Stephen Hendry, Dennis Taylor, John Parrott etc. etc. etc.

Why do we only give 40% to the bar on snooker tables? Snooker tables are a great expense in part and in moving erecting properly, quality cloth is expensive and we make sure the table is in top condition when it is installed. Your snooker table will be installed by professionals who know how to install every part of the table including putting the cloth on properly.

Important: Do not make any mistake with this as your table income will suffer. A snooker table that is not properly installed and has not proper cloth on it is not a snooker table, at least as far as potential customers are concearned it's not and they will not play on it, if they won't play on it then how do you make money from it?
If the table returns are good then we can talk about changing to 50/50 at a later date.

We generally do not carry snooker tables in stock in Spain because of the high cost of storage along with the cost that double transportation would add to the price, it is cheaper for the client if we ship direct on order confirmation.
Lead times on snooker tables are generally between 21 and 31 days (Fcsnooker - 21 days and Riley - 31 days) after deposit payment has been received.

Snooker tables are a big investment and they need to be installed by people who know what they are doing, do not make the mistake that others have made and purchased from people who * think * they are snooker table fitters and are not, we supply snooker tables from the very few UK snooker table manufacturers that still exist. Billiard tables need to be installed by professional billiard table fitters, we know every aspect of working with all types of billiard tables.

We are probably the only company on the Costa del Sol who can undertake snooker table repairs, we carry many spares in stock such as one piece cues and balls, we can undertake many of the general maintence repairs such as replacing old pocket nets, leathers and ball rails. Are the cushions dead? we can replace the cushion rubber and bring them back to life.

Below are listed a few of the rapairs and prices for snooker tables, if there is anything you need done that is not listed then just give us a call and we will discuss your needs.

Replacing pocket leathers and nets:

Cost: 280 Euro including leathers, nets and call out *charge (* Within 25 klm of Fuengirola. This price does not include IVA).

This is something that really can revitalise your snooker table, it is quite amazing how new leathers and nets make a difference to the table look... if you do this then changing the ball rails to brass type with black bars (see next item) would finish off the look for the pockets.

To do this job it is best to remove the pockets from the table although some tables can have this work done without removing the pockets. There is quite a bit of time involved in stripping the old nets and leathers then sowing the new leathers into place.

We generally carry these parts in stock although there are several types of leathers on various tables, we would check that your leathers where of a common type we hold and if not then we can get other types fairy quickly.

Replacing ball rails:

Cost: 120 Euro including the rails and call out *charge (* Within 25 klm of Fuengirola. This price does not include IVA).

This price is for standard brassed ring with black rails. Using Tournament brass rings and black rails (longer at black end) would add 40 Euro more to this price.

Replacing full size cushion rubber (Club quality):

Cost: 500 Euro including tournament rubber and call out *charge (* Within 25 klm of Fuengirola. This price does not include IVA).

This is the general quality of cushion rubber used for snooker tables and is fine for tables that endure normal use.

This is generally a job where we would take your table cushions to our work shop to do and then bring them back a couple of days later. This work can be a little messy and involves sanding to form the rubber shape at the corners.

This price does not include recovering the cushions with new cloth, this would be needed as the old cloth from cushions cannot be replaced, beacuse of this it would be convienient to have this work done when a table recover is due.

Replacing full size cushion rubber (Tournament quality):

Cost: 560 Euro including club rubber and call out *charge (* Within 25 klm of Fuengirola. This price does not include IVA).

This is an option for players that are used to a higher standard of play and prefer a better quality rubber, this would be done using Tournament quality cushion rubber.

This price does not include recovering the cushions with new cloth, this would be needed as the old cloth from cushions cannot be replaced, beacuse of this it would be convienient to have this work done when a table recover is due.
