Fuengirola and La Cala Leagues
Objective
To have fun and enjoy the game, we do not offer huge prizes or big end of league parties although there are prizes and there will be a presentation, the object of our league is not financial gain for the winning teams but enjoyment and entertainment for those teams and their players. All monies that are collected or taken from sponsors will go towards prices and trophies while any end of league presentation will be in the venue for the team that wins the league, so giving people whose teams play in the league any benefits.
Prizes
These will be relative to the number of teams entered.
Team needs
1) A team! ideally 6 members but this can be more, a minimum of 4 players need to turn up on a pool night which at the moment is a Thursday evening league for Fuengirola and a Tuesday evening league for La Cala (Mijas Costa). Frames played would be 6 singles and 3 doubles, 1 game point per frame plus 1 team point for a fixture win.
2) A team subscription payment of 25 Euros plus a returnable deposit of 60 euros, the deposit is returned at the end of the league if the member team has completed all of their fixtures and not let an opposing team down without 24 hours (day before) notice.
ECON believe in supporting their clients, their clients pool players and pool on the coast so if you have an Econ pool table then you will only need pay 25 Euros to enter the league along with the returnable deposit... Econ will cover the operator fee and table fee, so the 'simplest' way to enter is to have an Econ table, that is... if you are not lucky enough to have a table operator that feels the same as Econ!
3) Team players would pay for the home games, a weekly subscription of 4 euros per team is an option that we experimenting with for the 2010/2011 leagues. This subscription would be used for trophys for a play off between 2nd, 4th, 3rd and 5th place teams.
4) A 6' or 7' English type pool table that has a playing surface, cushions and pockets in reasonable condition.
5) If your table is not an Econ pool table then we would call by just to make sure the table is in acceptable condition (kept level and clean with a reasonable cloth), we want the league to be more fun than serious but any team venue table would still need to be of high standard and well maintained.
6) 100% Interest! we don't really want teams that will not be interested in making an effort to play their fixtures. It is not fair on other teams and players participating if a team does not try to play their fixtures or lets other teams down, so it is important that the team is genuinely interested and makes every effort in taking part fully in the league, there will be a 20 Euro fine from a teams deposit if they do not turn up!
Costs/Fees
To enter an Econ pool league there will be:
1) A team entry fee expected to be 25 Euro
2) Team fixture deposit of 60 Euro (Returned if all fixtures are played within their expected dates and no failier to turn up with less than 24 hours notice).
3) Table entry fee of 50 Euros (Negociate this with your pool table operator or this would be paid by the bar if they own their own table).
4) Pool table operators fee of 100 Euros (One of payment per league for any operator who has one or more tables used by one or more teams, Econ also pay this into the prize fund).
5) An operators advertising fee (Optional) 500 Euros. If this is an option taken up by an operator it will give then their logo and telephone number in any results published in the news paper, otherwise only Econ and any main sponsors logo will be published.
... so Econ pool will pay 100 Euros entry fee (to their own league) plus 50 euros per table entry fee for each team entered with an Econ table, other operators involved will be expected to contribute the same or their table cannot be used in the league.
If an operators table is entered in the league that operator will get their company logo and number placed on all paperwork (Results/fixtures etc.) only if they pay the operators fee, if this is paid by the bar who has the operators table then no operators logo will be used.
General league info
1) Generally ECON leagues will start at the beginning of November.
2) If there are more than 6 teams in a league there will be one home and one away match between each team, for 6 or less teams the league will be double looped. Operator fees, table fees and team fees will be used for the trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions.
2) The League presentations will be done in the bar of the winning team 'as will any of the next years league meetings'. Free drinks and snacks will be supplied from the prize fund on presentation night.
3) There will be an 'End of league' one match 'Play off' between 2nd, 4th, 3rd and 5th places, this does not affect the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions of the league. Subs will be used for the trophies for this play off.
4) There will be Econ interleague home and away matches between the winners of the Fuengirola and La Cala leagues, ECON will sponsor the shield for this.
5) There will be a pool/snooker cue and case with a value of 130 Euro for the highest ranking player winning the most matches. This cue and case will be sponsored by ECON.
6) There will be also be a player knockout between the top 8 ranking players, this does not affect the player ranking results from the league.
7) All the fees charged go into the prize funds. ECON organises the ECON leagues, covers the printing and organisation costs and supplies sponsorship to the league. None of the monies paid for team, table or operator fees contribute to the organisation of the league, these all go towards trophies and prizes only but not towards any prizes sponsored by ECON.

Finally
We only want teams that are genuinely interested in forming part of a league and who take the responsibility of attending their fixtures seriously, it spoils the fun for others if a team does not make the effort to turn up or reorganise if they have a problem.
